WHAT GARDEN & GRASS PROFESSIONALS SAY
"Approximately 2,000 people walked across my lawn and by the end of the last day, the grass was totally mashed down. A few days later, the grass looked like no one had ever walked on it."

Brian Wheat, owner of Lafayette Florist & Garden Center, who used Crown III on his own lawn for the local Country Garden Tour.

The head of grounds maintenance at UCLA's Davis campus used Crown III on the "Diagonal" (the student commons area) last year. When asked how the grass was holding up to heavy student traffic, Sal Genito replied, "It's awesome. The difference is profound!"

"The soccer coaches have commented on how well the grass in the goal areas is holding up."
—Bill Randles, Vanderbilt University, TN

WHAT HOMEOWNERS SAY
"I used Crown III in a ring around our trampoline. Now that grass is greener and healthier than any of the other grass!"
—Keith Funk, GardNWise (Nursery Distributor), Denver, CO.

Macey Berkley, owner of Rivendell Sod Farm in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, used Crown III on bare lawn areas caused by her three big dogs running along her fence and back porch. She soon reported: "For the first time in years I have healthy grass instead of mud!" Macey is thrilled that her three big dogs no longer track mud and rocks onto her oak floors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How should Crown III be applied?
A: Apply Crown III to high traffic areas of lawn using standard topdresser equipment, a rake, or simply by hand. Lay down up to 3/4" of product in heavy traffic areas. Because the crumb rubber stays around the crown and on top of the soil, you don’t need to reapply like you do with other products.

Q: How does Crown III work?
A: Crown III prevents bare spots by protecting the crown (the growing part at the base of the grass plant). When the crown is crushed, the plant dies. Crown III crumb rubber settles down around the crown of the plant and cushions it, protecting it from damage.

Q: My dog has already worn a bare path in my yard. Will Crown III work for me?
A: Crown III protects healthy grass from wear, but it will not restore a bare patch. If more than 25% of the grass is dead, seed or sod the area first, then apply Crown III once the grass is re-established.

Q: What is crumb rubber?
A: Crumb rubber is tire particles produced when whole tires are shredded. Although size and shape varies, particles are about the size of a pea.

Q: What if my dog or child eats some?
A: Crown III is inert, like sand or pebbles, so if it is eaten, it will pass right through. Actually, crumb rubber has been used for many years in children’s playgrounds, and children and animals show little interest in eating it. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has purchasing guidelines which recommend recycled tire products for children’s playgrounds.

Q: What is the light, fluffy stuff in the product?
A: The whitish, lightweight material is small bits of polyester/nylon fiber from the tires. Tires are reinforced with this material.

Q: What happens to the metal from steel-belted radial tires?
A: Large magnets remove the metal during processing.

Q: Where can I find Crown III?
A: Crown III is sold through a network of distributors. Call 1-800-795-TIRE or e-mail us for a distributor near you.
